AUTHORIZING INCORPORATION OF EAGLE PASS INDEPENDENT
SCHOOL DISTRICT IN MAVERICK COUNTY.
H. B. No. 306.] CHAPTER 10.
An Act to authorize, enable and permit the territory situated within the
bounds of the Eagle Pass Independent School District, in the County of
Maverick and State of Texas, and other lands and territory adjacent
thereto in Maverick County, to, incorporate as an independent district
for free school purposes only, to be hereafter known as the Eagle Pass
Independent School District, with all the powers, rights, privileges, and
duties of independent school districts formed by incorporation of territory
for free school purposes only; and to provide for an election on the
question of divesting the old Eagle Pass Independent School District of
control ot its public schools and title to school properties, and vesting
the same in the new Eagle Pass Indepndent School District and its
board of trustees providing for a board of school trustees for the control
and management of said independent school district, providing that
all funds held for public school purposes and to be used in the territory
included in the new district shall be turned over to, the trustees of
the new district as herein provided may be created; providing that any
outstanding bonds or indebtedness ot the old district may, upon an
election being held in the new district, be paid by a tax duly levied in
the new district; providing other incidental provisions and declaring
an emergency.
Be it enacted by the Lcgislature of the State of Texas:
SECTION 1. That the lands and territory situated within the
bounds of the Eagle Pass Independent School District, in the county
of Mavereik, State of Texas, and other lands and territory adjacent
thereto within Maverick County as hereinafter described and
bounded is hereby authorized, enabled and permitted to incorporate
as an independent school district for free school purposes
only, under the name of the Eagle Pass Independent School District,
in the manner ;n this Act provided.
SEC. 2. The territory hereby created into said independent
school district is hereby prescribed and bounded as follows: Beginning
at the north-west corner of Webb County, being the point
where the north line of Webb County touches the Rio Grande River
and the same point where the south line of Maverick County
touches the river; thence generally east with the north line of
Webb County and the south line of Maverick County to the southwest
corner of Dinnmit County; thence generally north with the
west lines of Dimmlit and Zavala County to the northwest corner
of Zavala County, which point Is the southwest corner of Uvalde
County and the southeast corner of Kinney County; thence generally
west with the. south line of Kinney County to the Rio Grande River;
thence doNn the Rio Grande River with its meanders to the place of
beginning.
All of the territory embraced within this new district being located
in the county of Maverick in the State of Texas.
SEC. 3. The county judge of said county of Maverick, within
twenty days after this Act goes into effect, shall make an order
for holding an election on a day therein named and at a place
