zation to show cause why such changes in valuation shall not
be made. For the purpose of hearing the complaints of those
so cited, said board of equalization shall designate a time not
less than ten (10) nor more than fifteen (15) days after the
adjournment of its previous meeting.
SEC. 6. The members of the board of trustees of the Bishop
Independent School District shall be resident citizens and freeholders
and qualified voters in said district, under the laws of
this State, and each member of the board, before entering upon
his duties, shall make and subscribe the usual oath for the faithful
and impartial discharge of the duties of trustee.
SEC. 7. The present trustees of the Bishop Independent
School District are hereby continued in office until the next
regular trustee election on the first Saturday in April, 1925, or
until their successors are elected and qualified as prescribed by
General Law.
SEC. 8. All elections for trustees to be held under the provisions
of this Act, shall be ordered by the board of trustees of
said district at least ten days prior to said election, and the
secretary of said board shall publish notice of said election in
some newspaper published in said district or shall post written
notices in three public places in said district at least ten days
before said election.
SEC. 9. The board of trustees shall immediately after their
election, or as soon thereafter as possible, meet for the purpose
of organizing. The majority of said board shall constitute a
quorum to do business, and they shall choose from their number
a president; and they shall choose a secretary, treasurer,
assessor and collector of taxes, and all other necessary officers
and committees.
The treasurer chosen shall be required to give bond for double
the estimated amount of the receipts coming annually into his
or its hands. Said bonds shall be made payable to the president
of the board and his successors in office and to be approved by
the board of trustees, conditioned for the faithful discharge of
his or its duties and for the payment of the funds received by
him or it upon the draft of the president drawn upon order duly
entered by the board of trustees.
The board of trustees shall appoint as treasurer the person or
corporation who offers satisfactory bond as herein provided
and the best bid of interest on average daily balances for the
privilege of acting as such treasurer.
SEC. 10. The assessor and collector of taxes, herein provided
for, shall be required to give bond in the sum of five thousand
($5,000.00) dollars. Said bond shall be made payable to the
president of the board and to his successors in office, and be
approved by the board of trustees, conditioned for the faithful
discharge of his duties and the payment of funds received by
him to the treasurer of said board, and he shall be entitled to
receive for his services as such assessor and collector such compensation
as the board of trustees may allow, not exceeding
four per cent of all funds so collected by him as such tax col-
