Alto fro grades K-12. Classes will

at the Trinity Christian Center (across
from the post office). Class open

I Volunteer Council
plans July 4 celebration
for Rusk State Hospital
The Volunteer Council is having a
celebration of our nation's birthday for
the patients at the Rusk State Hospital.
Merchandise will be purchased for
the game booths and refreshments
for the patients.
Donations for financial support will
help the Council complete its extensive
shopping list of supplies for the
celebration.
Please make your check payable to
the Volunteer Council for the Rusk
State Hospital, Inc., and designate the
date July 4.
TDC.T Good Neighbor Project
Renovation work at
the Rusk Civic
Center has been
completed by a
TDCJ Skyview Work
Squad. Rusk City
Manager Mike
Murray, Major Carl
Carpenter, Mike
Barlow and Captain
Dan Ferguson
supervised the
work. The TDCJ
Good Neighbor work
included painting,
new ceiling tiles,
clean-up around the
building and other
clean-up, fix-up type
work.

at meeting
Jerry Rix was guest
speaker for the May meet-
ing of the William Roark
Chapter of the Daughters
of the Republic of Texas.
This was the last meeting
for the group until they
resume meeting in Sep-
tember.
Mr. Rix spoke on the his-
tory of Goliad and the sur-
vival of a few of the sol-
diers. He also stressed the
importance of remember-
ing the soldiers of all wars,
regardless of which war.
He reminded members of
the first G.I. Joe, Riley
Tidwell, of Mexia, as writ-
ten by Ernie Pyle.
Faye Martin, president
opened the meeting with
the DRT ritual and Annie
Ruth Nicar gave the invo-
cation. The secretary and
treasurer reporta were
presented by Mae Gean
Pettit.
Attending were Mrs.
Pettit, Mrs. Martin,
Guynell Kennedy, Mary
Bolton, Lou Rogers,
Ogreta Huttash, June Coo-
per, Lydia Sides, Mrs.
Nicar and LrfNfelle Russell.
