CONFEDERATE VETERANS
Met on Wednesday Night at the
Office of Dr. R. M. Johnson.
A number of Confederate Veterans
met last Wednesday evening at the
office of Dr. R. M. Johnson for the
purpose of taking preliminary steps
toward organizing a camp at this
place. There are about twenty-five
of these veterans of the civil war
living in this vicinity and a very
respectable camp could and will be
organized probably in the near
future.
On the afternoon of Saturday,
May 3, another meeting will be
held in the court house and all
members of the Confederate army
are invited and requested to be
present, as at this meeting plans will
be formulated for the organization
of a camp.
At Wednesday evening's meeting,
preparations were also made for
their attendance to Comrade Thomas
Witherspoon's funeral.
Among those present were Com-
rades Col. C. R. Moreman, Noah
Taylor, J. M. Hubbard, Dr. W- J.
Rogers, L. R. Bassham, E. Hearn,
D. C. Williford, W. R. Horn, Dr.
R. M. Johnson, J. A. Snow and
others.
Every ex-Confederate should put
forth his best endeavors to be pres-
ent at the meeting of May 3, and
thus help to swell the numbers in
the new camp to be organized, as
the meetings cannot help to be of
interest to the members of that
grand army who fought for what
they thought and still think was
right. ,
