A cynical divorce lavvver and the ex-wile ol a client cross
swords and wits in ilns romantic comedy Miles Massev (George
C looney ) has won more divorce eases than any other lawyer in
1 os Angeles Marilvn Rexiolh (C atherine eta-Jones) thought she
could heal him with video evidence ol her husband's infidelities
Wrong1 Massev can dig up dirt on anyone even a woman he's
smitten with and he helps Ins client gel out ol the marriage with-
out losing a dune Marilyn doesn't hold a grudge though as she
demonstrates by having Massev draw up the prenup agreement lor
her second hasty marriage to billionaire Howard Doyle (Hilly
Hob Thornton) Massev does so even though he knows that she's
going to leave Hubby 2 as soon as legally possible
She does and Masses is waiting W lule in Vegas the two marry
in haste then Masse) linds out that though he's in love with his
new wile she's got some irieks up her sleeve Marilyn's still alter
revenge and she's determined to gel it I rom there the madness
escalates as Massey realizes he's completely vulnerable
Intolerable C ruelly had the potential to really stand out. but I'm
alraid it will simply om Ihe ranks ol the usual romantic comedies
Other than some Shakespearian repartee early in the lilm the wit
level dropped the script could have been belter and perhaps a bit
believable Ata-loncs and C looney had the necessary spark to
make a great film-couple but nothing in this movie inspired the
spark to llame Mavbe they could woik together again with a bet-
ter script
