I hen was a hard in church on

commotion
I iluln t even notice him until a pair
ol elderly chinch members pointed
him out
I hen lliey pointed it out to die rest

completely diverted
I he pastor even mentioned him. but
I think she was iiist trying lo get
everyone s attention back on the serv-
ice I le skitlc-nd out lo the congregation
alter the hymns and then crawled back
to the altar when we went up lor com-
munion It really surprised me to see the con-
gregation pointing and whispering
about the hard
At one point belore the communion
one ol the ladies asked where the
hard went and another (old her not to
worry because she would protect her
I very one commented and smiled
about the liard when it came time lo
supported b the number of squealing

sirens heard nearly hourly

Most ol the area restaurants are

Methodism today
I ruth be told as much excitement
as I tell going into the week. I could

would pull away Irom the presenta-

that I am overextended with my cur-

My Irtend had managed to capture
the wayward creature and planned on
letting him go
lie was reluctant to leave so we
played with him lor a while. The con-
gregation thought this was very cute
I guess it was reassuring
Sometimes while in college we regress
lo a more childish time ol our lives
when we led that childhood slipping
away
Sorry that was the psychology
major in me
College students love naps car-
toons and junk food But we realize
that soon we will have to grow up and
lake responsibility lor our lives join
the real world and be serious about

more
It needs all night eollee shops near
the three university campuses It needs

there is much to be learned anil
applied Irom the hie and teachings ol
John Wesley teachings which I leel
blessed to have come in contact with
some lor the first tune this week
I or this reason although I might
continue to turn heads with random
Ills ol excited giggles when I hear the
words "lolm Wesley." "lOOth
Anniversary" and "I eclures" men-
tioned in passing in the same sentence
I know thai I have grown lo be a
stronger person and leader in my con-
gregation in part as a result ol such
experiences as this

our careers
We act out on our silly impulses lor
now because we will have to be
mature later
So the behavior ol the congregation
members mostly elderly was a pleas-
ant shock Since I started going to my
Inend's church 1 have noticed this
trend
These wonderlul people seem so
tolerant ol our strange college antics
1 reahe now it's because they never
let go ol that innocent child inside of
lliem the one who giggles at liards at
church and promises to protect Iriends
Irom danger
Later I lound a bulletin Willi ran-
dom doodles on il and smiled again
It's good to know we aren't the only
ones whose attention wanders
It's heartening to think that we will
still be able to regress lo our child-
hood even when that childhood is so
lar in the past
I ven when you are a "grown-up"
you can have loads ol lun with a
liard at church
