Dancathon Will
Benefit Handicapped
A Dancathon will ho held
in Old Indian Gym April
25th and '20th from 6:00 p.m.
to 6:00 p.m. All proceeds will
go to the Muscular Dys-
trophy Association.
All area high school and
college students are eligible
for participation and may
pick up packets in the MSG
office.
The dance will begin at
6:00 p.m. and there will he a
hreak every hour with food
and refreshments provided

Manning Accepted
For Medical School
McMurry graduate John
Manning has been accepted
to the Medical School at the
University of Texas at Gal-
veston. His graduate studies
will begin in August.
Manning is currently
working toward a Certificate
of Clinical Chemistry at
Hendricks Medical Center.
He graduated from McMurry
in May 1979 with a BS in
Chemistry and a HA in relig-
ion. While a McMurry student
Manning was on the Dean's
List a member of Gamma
Sigma Episilon Chemistry
Honor Society Historian for
the Kiva social club and an
active member of Christian
Outreach.
He was one of three college
students picked in 1979 by
Wheeler Receives
Sumners Scholarship
Thomas Wheeler a senior
McMurry College student
from Abilene has received
the Hatton T. Sumners
Foundation Scholarship to
attend SMU Law School in
the fall.
The scholarship based on
LSAT scores undergraduate
work and a personal inter-
view provides $5000 per
year for three years.
As a pre-law student
Wheeler's activities include
president of Alpha Chi;
treasurer of the McMurry
Student Government; and
treasurer of Makona social
club.
In addition he is an honor
roll student and is listed in
Who'B Who in American Col-
prizes will he awarded to the
couple that makes the most
money and to the organiza-
tion that brings in the most
money.
There will he a variety of
things going on throughout
the 2-1 hour period Some of
the possibilities include a
dunking booth and jelly bean
guess.
KFMN radio station will
he providing the music for
the dancathon. Indian In-
sight will he providing a
great deal of the manpower.

Wins Again
In National
Orienteering
On March 29 and 30 in
Bloomington Indiana the
tri-collcgc orienteering team
brought home the national
championship their second
in a row accomplishing what
no other college team has
ever done. They beat out over
200 college teams one of
which was West Point.
Edward Pekowski a
senior at McMurry College
physical education major
cadet executive officer and
the commanding officer of
Pershing Rifles won top hon-
ors at Nationals by coming in
first place over all in the
men's competition. Thomas
Shclton a senior at Hardin-
Simmons University came in
second in Nationals and in
the men's overall. Both
Pekowski nnd Shelton were
named to the Ail-American
squad a team composed of
seven college runners and
have been nominated to try
Dr. Cook Gets
Scholarship
Dr. Ann Cook with
McMurry College iB the reci-
pient of the Ellis-Rosenthal
Scholarship given by the
Delta Kappa Gamma honor-
ary education society.
She will use the scholar-
ship at Abilene Christian
University to complete her
reading specialist certificate.
Ms. Cook received a BS in
education from Texas
Woman's University a mas-
ters and doctorate in educa-
tion from Eust Texas State
University.
She has specialized in
elementury education and
early childhood at McMurry
Bince joining the faculty in
1974.

Candidates for class coun-
cil will be giving their
speeches. Treasurer reports
for each class will be pre-
sented and plans for what to
do with any extra money will
be discussed.
