It may appear like a Howard
Payne basketball reunion when
five players representing the
University take the floor again-
st the Texas Baptist Crusaders
at 8 p.m. tonight in the Yellow
Jacket gym.
Coacked by HP ex-guard and
former Sam Houston State
University assistant basketball
coach Rick Gregory the HP In-
dependents will spotlight
Gregory David Harrison Joe
Babineaux Tim Viertel and
current HP assistant basketball
coach Billy Williams as
.probable starters.
The Crusaders are comprised
of 12 seminary students and
Texas businessmen supported
by the Texas Baptist Men of the
Baptist General Convention of
Texas.
The team has visited the
cities of Rio de Janeiro Lon-
drina Victoria and Sao Paulo in
Brazil and has played against 13
of the country's professional
basketball teams defeating 10
of them.
Serving as an evangelistic
thrust the trip to Brazil was an
effort by Texas Baptists to help
Brazilian and Southern Baptist
Missionaries to double the num-
ber of churches and church
members in Brazil.
They are traveling the state
to raise money for future
foreign mission trips by con-
ducting clinics playing
exhibition games and speaking
in churches.
Although no admission fee
will be charged for tonight's
game fans will have the op-
portunity to contribute money
to the Crusader's cause.
