BUILDING COMMITTEE Members of the
Board of Trustees Building Committee and
HP administrators Tuesday surveyed the site
between Veda Hodge Hall and the Hodge
Memorial Bell Towers for the proposed
Chapel on 'drawing board'
"How to get on with building
the chapel of the School of
Christianity" was the topic of
the initial meeting of the
Building Committee of the
Board of Trustees according to
HP President Dr. Ralph A.
Phelps Jr.
The committee met Tuesday
at Howard Payne and approved
the revising of original building
plans. The original plans called
for two buildings to be built but
the new plans will feature only

In the committee meeting
Tuesday bands to participate in
the parade were named.
Named were bands from
Brownwood Comanche
Stephenville Santa Anna and
Howard Payne. "We have had
more response from the
Community this year than in the
past in getting bands to par-
ticipate" said Ted Miller

Students can 'Vote 80'
Howard Payne students who
are registered to vote in any
county including Brown may
vote absentee if they will not be
at their place of registration for
the November elections.
To request an absentee ballot
a student must write the county
clerk in the county in which he
is eligible to vote.

Degree plans
deadline nears
Friday Oct. 17 is the last day
to file degree applications for
December graduates and also
the last day to drop a course.
Degree plans must be signed
by the student's advisor.
Students dropping courses
this week will receive a WD on
their transcripts. No course
may be dropped after Friday. If
a student fails a course as the
result of absences the WD will
not be in effect. All withdrawals
are handled in the Registrar's
office.

negotiate with someone to draw
up a master plan of the campus
for the next 25 years approved
preliminary drawings of an
administration building to
house all administrative offices
and discussed a Student Union
Building.

Enrollment in the eight Texas
Baptist colleges and
universities is up 5.82 percent
over the 1979 Fall enrollment
according to reports released
by the Texas Baptist Public
Relations Department.
HPU ranks third
In seminary total
According to figures released
by Southwestern Baptist
Theological Seminary in Fort
Worth Howard Payne ranks
third in student representation
at the theological graduate
school.
Of the seminary's 3684
students 131 come from HPU.
Baylor University supplied 233
0 students while Oklahoma Bap-
tist University supplied 156.
HPU is followed by Dallas
Baptist College with 106 Sam-
ford University (Birmingham
Ala.) with 87 and Hardin-
Simmons University with 86.
All are Southern Baptist
schools.

again Oct. 24 which is also the
scheduled time for the quar-
terly meeting of the Board of
Trustees.
Baylor reported the largest
total enrollment with 10316.
Houston Baptist reported an
enrollment of 2092; Hardin-
Slmmons 1970; Wayland
Baptist 1468; Howard Payne
1301; Dallas Baptist 1131;
University of Mary Hardin-
Baylor 1034; and East Texas
Baptist 900.
Howard Payne is ranked fifth
in both enrollment increase and
total enrollment.

mer member of the "Moonie"
cult will speak tonight at 7:30 in
Mims auditorium. Edwards
was a leader in the cult and
spent 1 years getting his life
back together.
