The Farrell lind Farrell Band will
be on campus.Feb. 19 for a concert
In Mabee Complex bs part of the
Student Foundation's High School
Weekend. Highlighting the even-
ing concert will be the performance
of Boundless Love and Couldn't
Live Without You In addition to the
group's other hits.
The concert Is scheduled to
begin at 8 p.m. and tickets for
Hardln-Slmmons students will be
$2. Tickets for the general public
will be $3.
Bob and Jayne Farrell are
a husband and wife team who
along with their band have been
traveling and ministering through
their music for several years.
Before becoming Christians both
were Involved In secular music.
Bob played with several rock
bands and Jayne spent some time
singing on the nightclub circuit.
After accepting the Lord each
of them became Involved In several
Individual ministries before com-
ing together as husband and wife.
For several years Jayne was a
featured soloist In crusades In
addition to her counseling work
with young women In the areas of
marriage and dating. Bob got his
start In Christian music as the co-
founder of the group Millenium In
1970. He stayed with them until
1972 when he Joined one of the
early pioneer Christian bands
Dove a group which released an
album on the Myrrh label In the
early 1970s.
The Farrell and Farrell Band Is
already becoming quite popular In
the South having toured
throughout the Southeastern
states with the Pat Terry Group.
Some of their accomplishments in-
clude appearing on the nationally-
syndicated television show HI
Doug and more recently appearing
In concert with B.J. Thomas.
The band has three songs on the
Christian music charts. No Need
from their newest album Portrait
of Us All Is number seven on the
chart .according to Contemporary
Christian Music. Boundless Love
and Couldn't Live Without You
are also listed in the top 25.
The Foundation Is also In need
of places for the high school
students to stay during High
School Weekend. Sign up sheets
will be placed In each dormitory for
students wishing to have a high
school guest during the weekend.
Interested students may also
contact Brenda Bryant for more
information on providing a place
for the students.

Mutlc Farrell and Farrell will be In concert February 19.
Two buses pulled away from'
Hardln-Slmmons Friday afternoon
loaded with migrant workers
heading for the Rio Grande valley.
The migrant workers were HSU
students going to the valley to pick
oranges for the Student Foundation.
Rape seminar set for Thursday

According to Carolyn Herring
Bray of the Rape Crisis Center
"Everyone Is affected by rape at
least once In life" and people need
to know how to deal with it. Bray
will be the coordinator for the Rape
Awareness Seminar being con-
ducted by the Hardln-Slmmons
Student Congress.
The seminar scheduled for 8
p.m. on Feb. 12 in Van Ellis Theatre
will deal with how the community
can fight rape. Says Paul Gomez
chairman of the Community and
World Awareness Committee of
the congress "Hardln-Slmmons Is
a community within a community
and we need to do our part tojight
rape."
The seminar Is not designed for
women only and men are en-
couraged to attend. According to
Bray men need to know what to do
and how to react when a girl friend
or relltive Is raped. The seminar
will deal with these aspects of
rape as well as others.
The program will begin with
some basic facts about rape
before special guests present
segments on special areas.
Representatives from the criminal 1
investigation division of the
Abilene Police Department and the
Taylor County District Attorney
Office will speak as will the cam-
pus nurse and Ms. Bray. Other
features on the program Include a
question and answer period and
3 showing of The Community
7Jfs Rape a movie dealing with
l comunity's responslbllties
when a rape occurs.
Also Included In the evening
seminar will be an explanation on
what to do after a rape has oc-
curred. Ms. Bray will be the speaker
for this segment.

The Foundation picks oranges
every year to sell to raise money
for the group's scholarship fund.
The annual event Is held so that
the Foundation can give 11
scholarships In the amount of $800
to Hardln-Slmmons students. In
addition a $1200 recruitment
scholarship will go to an 81-82
freshman.
The buses were to depart the
campus at 12:30 Feb. 6 and arrive
at Camp Cone Oasis at approx-
imately 10:30 p.m. Saturday began
early for the student workers as
they got up at 6 a.m. to go to the
orange grove. Oranges .were to be
picked all morning before the
group's return to the encampment
around noon.
The afternoon's agenda Includ-
ed excitement for the pickers with
a trip to Mexico and South Padre
Island. An alumni and orange
pickers dessert party was planned
for Saturday evening. The party
was to Include banana splits and
entertainment as well as speeches
from Dr. Fletcher and several
members of the Student Foundation.
