HSU Junior Receives internship
Opportunity with American
Chamber of Commerce Hong Kong
By Barrett Thomas
Until last year Hardin-Simmons
University did not have an international
business department. Now one HSU stu-
dent has been chosen by the American
Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong
considered the most influential of all for-
eign chambers for a paid internship.
Hanse Dobbs of Abilene the student
who received the internship is a junior
international business major. This will be
the second time he has traveled to China.
Last spring Dobbs spent a semester at
Hong Kong Baptist University. While
there he met Frank Martin director of the
American Chamber of Commerce in
Hong Kong who was very impressed
with both Dobbs and the HSU internation-
al business department.
Dobbs received a position in the public
affairs department where internships are
quite competitive. He was able to land the
internship based primarily on his academ-
ic record his study at Hong Kong Baptist
University and his meeting with Martin.
"I wanted experience and exposure to
international business and I think
this internship is the best opportunity
there is. I will learn more from the
experience than I ever could from any
class teaching the same material" said
Dobbs.
Dobbs internship will begin on May 15
and run until Aug. 15.
