Summer Missions Expand
Throughout the summer of 1990
students from six Texas Baptist
universities participated in a 10-week
program of revivals across the state. This
pilot project known as Youth-Led
Revivals was organized by the
Evangelism Division of the Baptist
General Convention of Texas. Students
were assigned to five-member teams each
team located in a different area of Texas.
Each team served in ten different churches.
During their assignment team
members were involved in preaching
leading music and presenting special
music in revival services; leading
children's Bible clubs; and taking an active
part in other areas of church work.
Participating HSU students were
Steven Flores Irene Garcia Cliff Lea and
Randy Cawlfield.
Plans are underway to expand the
project for 1991. Requirements include
dedication to Southern Baptist principles
and willingness to volunteer their summer
for full-time ministry. More details are
included with the application forms which
are available from Palmer McCown
religious activities director. The deadline
for applications is Oct. 30. See him also
for other missions opportunities.
