News Boys: Hell Is For Wimps
This Australian group will catch the
eye just by the title of the album. The
group who opened for Mylon and Broken
Heart at HSU on Oct. 1 conveys a
message of loving Christ and going the
distance for Him.
Lead singer John "James" James has a
voice which proves his nationality in "All I
Can See." The guys then prove how far
they will follow the Lord in "Ten
Thousand Miles."
This band stands up for Jesus
throughout the entire album striving to
show a stronger love for Him each day.
This album comes complete with hard
guitar soft synthesizer and pounding
percussion.
In the end these guys claim
"Victory"...victory in Jesus.
Mad At The World: Seasons of Love
Take the looks of Dead or Alive the
voice of Midnight Oil plenty of hard
guitar and add a Christian message. The
result would be this new album.
"Narrow Road" the title track and
"City of Anger" are only three of the hard
songs on the album. A more subtle
selection is a ballad entitled "The Love
That Never Fades."
"So Insane" is a track against the use
of drugs and puts in a much better
message than Just Say No. For the Beatles
fan there's a Beatlesque selection entitled
"It's Not A Joke."
A reprise of the title track extends the
original to complete this 1 1 song album.

Kim Harding A Witness
by Rick Hope
Last year a friend of mine wrote me
concerning the impending death of her
grandfather. "He just seems like he can't
accept the fact that he is going to die. But
I guess that's normal" she said. "I guess
we all have a tenacious grip on life that we
just don't want to let go." I was very
impressed with that statement because it
was so true.
I was reminded of that two weeks ago
when I went to a special called meeting at
Hunter dormitory concerning Kim
Harding. No I was not one of those who
had the pleasure of getting close to Kim. I
had known Chris since we are from the
same town and I had dated a good friend of
his for about a year. I did have the chance
to talk to Kim a couple of times however
and as I look back on those times and the
times I observed her from a distance there
was one thing I really admired about her.
I have a real tendency to wallow in
self-pity a little more than I probably
should. Many times I also give up too
easily. Kim was not that type of person.
Faced with the knowledge that she
probably wouldn't make it through the end
of the year Kim chose to come back to
HSU to be with Chris and her other
friends. She was not going to let her
affliction stop her from living her life.
Because of that one simple fact her
witness was so tremendous on this campus
that there were not many lives that escaped
untouched. What an inspiration.
As I write this the song "In Heaven's
Eyes" is playing on KGNZ. I know that
there is a special place in Heaven for Kim
where she will be able to walk and feel no
pain whatsoever. I look forward to being
there myself someday. See you there
Kim.
Johnson (cont. from page 1)
was followed by several others speakers
inlcuding Johnson's son Charles who
shared some of his father's background
and his love for HSU.
The official acceptance address was
given by Dr. Ron Smith Executive Vice
President and Provost of the University.
The ceremonies closed with a special piece
of music written especially for the event by
Dr. Andy Patterson of the Caldwell School
of Music.
