Whereas; God in His-Infinite mercy
and wisdom in tho direction of affairs
human has seen fit to call homo tho
father of our friend and schoolmate
Miss Ellso Studer.
Bo it resolved by tho faculty and
student body of Simmons College that
wo extend to her our closest sympathy
in her hour of bereavement apd that
while wo cannot understand tho Di-
vine plan in taking loved ones from
among us wo can at least see tho
mercy of Him from whom we gained
lllfo. Feeling that oven our deepest
sympathy In this her and her family's
hour of grief will not assuage tho be-
reavoment and yet doBlro to say that
sho and her family have what feeble
consolation our partly sharing her grief

Word has been received hero that
Judgo Joo Burkott'has named Harvey
Brown of Abilene aaajsi stenographer.
Mr. Brown was appointed' by Judge
Blanton before tho 'latter waB succeed
ed by Judgo Burkett to fill out tho un
expired torm of Wv H. Graham. When
It came time for Judgo Burkett to
choose a court stenographer. Mr.
Brown was tho lucky man.
A competitive examination was held
however and Mr. Brown mado tho best
grado.
Ho passed the examination with a
speed of 200 words a minute a fine
record.
Mr. Brown is yet in his early twen
ties and tho youngest official stenogra-
pher in Texas.
