Cultural forum tonight
Howard Payne Uimeisity will host an International Student Foium
at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Nov. 15. in the Mabee Center in observance of
International Education Week.
During the forum. HPU'.s international students will provide infor-
mation on the culture customs courtesies food and educational systems
of their countries. Refreshments from international countries will be
served.
In recent years HPU has seen an increase in the number of coun-
tries represented by international students. HPU enrolled students this fall
from Taiwan China Hong Kong Turkmenistan Armenia Indonesia
Russia Peru Japan Ukraine Korea and Angola. This is the first year
HPU enrolled students from Angola and Indonesia.
The forum is open to the public.
Stephen Goacher. This is
Goacher's third year conducting
the ja ensemble.

academic year to the study ol Duke

WASHINGTON - Eight foreign aid workers held by the Taliban
militia since August for preaching Christianity were freed
Wednesday and were headed to Pakistan a U.S. official said.
Two of the eight are Americans. A second U S. official speak-

Caminiti arrested for drug possession
HOUSTON - Former Rangers and Astros third baseman Ken
Caminiti has been arrested in Houston and is reportedly being
charged with possession of a controlled substance. The arrest
came Wednesday afternoon at a motel on the Southwest
Freeway. A special team from the Harris County Sheriff's Office
along with authorities from the DEA and FBI were all involved
in the arrest. When officers confronted Caminiti they say he
had what they termed a small amount of crack cocaine. He
has a history of substance abuse and has previously been in
rehab.
