Players suspended for violating team policy
BY TOMMY BROWN
YJ Managing Editor
On Saturday afternoon foot-
ball fans listening to the Yellow
Jackets-Texas Lutheran football
game may have noticed that there
were some players missing from
the game.
That is because on Friday
night six players were penalized
for breaking team policy and were
therefore suspended for Saturday's
season finale.
"The players were suspended
for violating team curfew" Athletic
Director Steve Rhodes said. "They
stayed with the team but were not
allowed to suit out."

Rhodes also said that any
other activities that may have been
going on are currently being inves-
tigated by Dean of Students Athena
Bean.
"She is spearheading the rest
of the investigation regarding other
school policies that may have been
broken" Rhodes said. "She will
also be in charge of coming up with
the students' penalty from the
school."
Because the team was repre-
senting the school and the school
was paying for the trip Rhodes
said it will be treated as if it hap-
pened on campus.

is paying for the trip whatever it is

This is not the first time this
season players have been suspend-
ed for breaking team policy.
According to Rhodes who is
in his first year as athletic director
the athletic department is making
an effort to make sure it is repre-
senting the school like everyone
would desire.
"We have been very diligent
to make sure student athletes are
good people and that they are rep-
resenting the students of the uni-
versity well" Rhodes said. "The
student athletes arc learning what
expectations we have of them and

Despite the recent troubles
Rhodes is proud of the athletic
department and the steps it has
taken to make sure these type inci-
dents do not happen in the future.
Rhodes said that if someone
wants to try the system then they
should be ready to face harsh con-
sequences. "We love ya we want to
help but there arc going to be some
consequences" he said. "The ath-
letic department has not looked the
other way when faced with these
problems. We have proceeded for-
ward and it wasn't our intention to
go after a single player or players."

Rhodes said there is a new standard
of what student athletes are going

"These athletes have to think
