Nominations are being
accepted for the Dean Adams
Achievement Award the
Trustee's Award and Honor
Student awards.
Names should be turned in at
the Student Personnel Office by
noon Thursday. According to
Garvin Beauchamp vice presi-
dent of student personnel ser-
vices the awards are usually
given to seniors. The Student
Life Committee makes the final
- selections.
Criteria for selecting the Dean
Adams Achievement Award
Application
Applications are due April 1
for the $200 scholarship being
offered by the American Asso-
ciation of University Women.
All undergraduate women are
eligible for the award. Applica-
tion blanks can be obtained
from the financial aid office and
ROTC sponsors contest .
One hundred gallons ot gas H-SU ROTC
plus two free steak dinners will
be the top prize in a contest
sponsored by the tri-college
Army ROTC.
The contest according to
Major D. T. Crockett assistant
professor in military science at
Hardin-Simmons University will
be to create an emblem for the
ROTC department. It will be
used as their official logo on
stationary and uniforms.
The design must symbolically
represent all three Abilene col-
leges and the Army ROTC
program.
Any college student may
enter the contest. Entries must
be mailed by April 1 to the

exceptional talent as an air
personality. "She knows her
music and she knows when not
to talk which is a difficult
lesson for some air personalities
to learn."
The San Antonio freshman
first experienced regular radio
work last semester with KACC.
According to KACC station
manager Jeff Warr Jcanc's talent
is evidenced in how quickly she
moved into the professional
radio field.
"The while purpose of KACC
is to train people for jobs in the
field of communications. I think
KACC has helped Jeane to
develop her talent into some-
thing she can sell" said Warr.
Jeane's friends believe she has
an equal talent in relating to
people on a personal basis.
Maureen Potts sophomore
elementary education major who
has known Jeane approximately
four years said "Jcane makes
people feel important. She's
always eager to reach out to
.people to draw them into her
circle to make them feel com-
fortable with her."
Another close friend Sue
Russell who has known Jeane
since last August said "When
she arrived here last semester it
seemed she had almost no
adjustment difficulty. Instead
she was always trying to help
other freshmen adjust."
Maureen said Jeane has her
priorities straight. "She isn't
ifraid to share herself or her
faith with people because she is

Jeane has been Interested in
communications of one form or
another since her sixth year in
school.
Beginning in her sixth grade
and continuing through high
school Jeane alternately worked
with the school paper and the
annua staffs serving as editor of
the high school paper her senior
year.
The first contact Jeane had
with radio work came in her
high school year when her

discuss current political events.
One dream Jeane has had
involving communications con-
cerns working on educational
television. "Especially 'Sesame
Street.' I'd love to talk with Big

Jeane currently can be heard
on KFMN radio Monday
through Friday from 9 p.m.
through midnight and on KACC
radio Friday from 5:30-8:00
p.m.
