The regional class B basketball
tournament will be held here in Ab-
ilene today and tomorrow. The tour-
nament will open Friday morning in
"the Wildcat gym and will move over
to Abilene High School Friday night
and Saturday. Highland is the de-
fending champions but Sunset has
one of the best records and is tabbed
as one of the teams to watch. Mr.
Scruggs is tournament director and
Shorty Lawson will refree. The Sun-
set team is expected to arrive on the
campus sometime Thursday after-
noon.
The intramural badminton tourna-
ment also begins today. There will
be two brackets: one for beginners
(those who have learned to play
since September and the open
class for experienced players. Blue
ribbons will be accorded the winners
in the open class.
The will be singles and doubles
for men and women and mixed
doubles. A player will be allowed to
enter only one event.
The boys' intramural basketball
tournament will begin Monday
March 5. The juniors and sophomore
classes have been picked as favor-
Hies because of more experienced
players but the freshman class will
also have a strong team. The tour-
nament schedule follows:
March 5 '45 Fish vs. sophs.
March 6 Juniors vs seniors.
March 8 Fish vs juniors.
March 8 Sophs vs seniors.
March 12 Fish vs seniors.
March 13 Soprs vs juniors.
The Sweetwater High School ten-
nis team visited the campus Satur-
day and despite a pery high wind
gave the Wildcat team a tennis les-
son Elrod Sweetwater's number one
man and one of the smoothest play-
ers in the state will probably enter
ACC next year if he doesn't enter
the armed forces.

Plans were made for a picnic for
members and guests next Thursday
at Ko-Jo-Kai meeting Wednesday
night.
Mrs. Ernest Finlcy an ex-member
was guest at the meeting. The for-
mer Frances Jackson she was pres-
ident of the club last year.
The following pledges served re-
freshments and presented a pro-

members of Delta Theta Wednesday
night. Two exes from Abilene Doris

New officers were elected Wed-
nesday nght by the Cadettes to re-
place Carolyn Davis who left at
mid-term.

ACC Hopes Soar As Peek
At Former Records
Spell 'Victory'
Texas Open Badminton Champion-
ship Tournament will be held in
Galveston this year March 23 24
25.
The tournament promises to be
one of the best since the war. Wal-
ter Henselle president of the Texas
Badminton Association says that
players from Oklahoma and Louis-
iana have also been invited. Some
of the best badminton players in the
country will participate in the tour-
nament which will begin Friday af-
ternoon at six o'clock. The finals
will be played Sunday afternoon
March 25.
The tournament will have three
brackets: the Veterans the service
bracket for those in the armed
forces and the regular Texas open.
There will be singles for both men
and women doubles for both men
and women and mixed doubles. The
tournament will be played under the
TBA rules and trophies will be
awarded to both the winners and
runners up.
The tournament was held in Dal-
las last year with around 200 par-
ticipants. ACC has won the Intercollegiate
Championship in both the men's
and women's singles and in one
tournament brought back 26 trophies
out of the 30 offered.

Wanda Lou Middleton senior from
Corpus Christi gave her major din-
ner in the home economics lab Feb-
ruary 24.
A blue and white color scheme
was carried out. White tapers were
used with a centerpiece of blue and
white sweetpeas and white narcis-
sus. Mirrored place cards were used.
Ivy in a blue opt with blue candles
were on the buffet.
Braised pork chops creamed caul-
flower with almons green beans
pear and cottage cheese salad hot
rolls and butter apricot sherbet and
plain cajce were served.

Clara Sue Butz was hostess to a
birthday dinner Wednesday in the
home economics lab. The dinner cel-
ebrated the birthday of Mr. Luther
Roberts Mr. C. H. Roberson
her husband Marshal Butz.
An oblong reflector was used in
the centerpiece of floating pink
roses. It was accented by pink and
white tapers on the table and a
white birthday cake decorated with
'pink candles on the buffet. Pink
tapers were on either side of the
cake.
Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Rober-
son Mr. and Mrs. Roberts Miss
Lylian Arledge and Mrs. Ara Mac-
Farland. Marshal was the host.
Baked hen with dressing and gib-
le gravy was the main dish. Creamed
celery and buttered brussel sprouts
accompanied it. Congealed grape-
fruit and apple salad hot rolls and
the birthday cake were served.
