Mrs. Hillsman Davis has been a volunteer cataloger for
the library for nearly seven years. Mrs. Bailey assists with
the cataloging and Mrs. Gervasi assisted with the project of
setting up the library in the Dewey Decimal classification.
School girls working with the Neighborhood Youth Corp
have assisted with the work at intervals through the past
several years. Maria Lujan is currently working after school
each evening.
The library is a member of the Texas Library Association
and the American Library Association and meets all requirements
of both the State and Federal governments.
The library presently has between 12,000 and 13,000
hard-back books, in addition to several hundred paper-backs,
and a very good periodical department.
The library is governed by the above mentioned Board of
Trustees and the City Commission which is composed of Mayor
L. L. Fox Parker, Bishop L. Bailey and J. M. Humphreys
Commissioners.2
