A Riaa in Lake Michigan
There was a rare phenomenon at
Chloaco in a recent electric storm
at night The waters of Lake Mich
igan rose three feet and sank as
much making a whole motion of
six feet within five minutes This
is what the rivermen call a tidal
wave but it was caused by sud-
den atmospheric pressure over a-
part of the lake several miles in
diameter which caused a dent in
the lake sending its waters to the
shoro and piling them up to recede
as much more when the pressure
was removed It is not an infre-
quent happening
