Knights of the Pumpkin Vine
This organization seemed to have
had its origin since the beginning
of the present century at Lasater
sweet Lasater on the Rhino and
bids fair to become a power In the
land and for aught we know may
he an oasis in n desert waste
It dropt down on us without pertenco
Like the Alliance pearched on a
wire fence
Its motto is go forth go hence
And conquer tho earth with a monk-
ey wiench
Charles Bennett foreman he leads
tho van
The rest fall in behind
With nips and grips and golden tips
Tbe knights of tho pumpkin vine
Theyr spreading out thoyr Bproad
in round
Since first they had their birth
And on the ninth of August they
spect to meet
In the city of Fort Worth
The knights are a seleoted group
composed principally of the elite
and toughfltes of the land They
have hebdominal meetings with
closed doors are exceedingly cau-
tious employing a watchman one
Mont Simmons who is known to
outsiders as sargeant at arms who
patroles the meeting armed with a
lot of dynamite bombs and If he sees
any one approaching he throws a
bomb that explodescreating a noise
equal to a Japanese mine Their
object appears to bo for tho better-
ment of the farmer also to raise
bigger and bettor pumpkins One
thing they lack they have no wo-
men ladies in thoirn consequent-
ly ye Stoney dont want to jinebut
he needent iret about it for he
cnuldent if ho would seeing as they
dont take any over GO years of age
but shawl the St Louis convention
selected a man over 80 who they
tho dem party expect to elect vice
president Rah for Davis rah for
West Va rah for a man in whose
veins flow tbe blood of aristocracy
Now lets rally everybody rally
Knights and all come come up to
the help of the democrats ocainst
tho man that ran tho Spaniards up
San Juan Hill andnfterward feast-
ed Booker Washington at his own
festive board Yes stand pat on
tho plntforra cover all the planks
in it whether itbo gold silver or
greenbacks
What we aro clamoring for is
money to move the pumpkin ciop
and get it in on time
