cials of the statewide general
farm organization the fact that
the Rolling Plains is generally
referred to as "Farmers Union
Country" assures a large at-
tendance and the "biggest con-
vention in the organization's
history." The convention head-
quarters will bo the Windsor
Hotel.
The convention will give
priority attention to adopting
a state program to guide the
policy direction of the organ-
ization during the coming year.
The week of November 10-
15 has been proclaimed as
"Farmers Union Membership
Week" by Governor Preston
Smith.
In announcing the proclama-
tion the Governor acknowledg-
ed a prosperous agriculture is
vital to the economic well-be
ing of Texas. He pointed out
that Farmers Union is the old-
est farm organization In Texas
having been founded in 1902
and he recognized the growth
of the state organization.
