Granger's Lions pinned an 18'
6 defeat on the Bartlett Bull
dogs there Friday night as the
Lions stayed in contention for
the district crown.
Quarterback John Simcik did
most of the damage to the
Bulldogs as he passed for one
touchdown and ran for another.
Simcik led his mates to 15
first downs with Granger pick-
ing up 222 yards rushing and 91
passing. Bartlett made 14 first
downs with 179 yards on the
ground and 28 in the air.
Granger lost little time in
getting on the scoreboard as
thoy took the opening kickoff
and moved 78 yards to score.
Simcik ended the drive with a
keeper from six yards out. His
run for the conversion points
was short.
That's the way the half end-
ed and Granger didn't get on
the scoreboard again until the
third period when Larry Cmor-
ek broke over right tackle and
sprinted 17 yards to score. Sim-
cik's run for the two points was
foiled again.
Bartlett made the score 12-6
after an interception set up the
Bulldogs. D. A. Swope passed
six yards to halfback Wayne
Powell for the score. Powell's
run for the two points was halt-
ed. Granger finally put the game
out of reach late in the game
when Ronnie Kruse took a 36
yard pass from Simcik to score.
This ended a 60 yard drive. A
pass for the two points failed.
