Family Gathering
A family gathering of the
Wuthrich family was held at
the American Legion Hall in
Bartlett on Thursday Dec.
26th. The family gathering was
hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Ernest
Wuthrich and their children
Mr. and Mrs. Billy Glenn Gray
and family of Beaumont and
Mr. and Mrs. Fred C. Herber
Jr. of Austin.
A covered dish supper was
served at 6:30 p.m. followed by
snacks consisting of various
Christmas cakes cookies and
candies which were served lat-
er in the evening.
Family pictures were taken
.and moving pictures were tak-
en of the group at random.
Entertainment was the show-
ing of colored moving pictures
taken in prior years by Andy
Becker- Other ontortainment
consisted of various games and
conversation.
Present for the occasion were
all members of Mr. Wuthrich's
immediate family consisting of
three brothers and five sisters
Mr. and Mrs. Randolph Fuessel
Mr. and Mrs. William Wuth-
rich Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence
Wuthrich Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Kuhl all of Taylor; Mr. and
Mrs. Edgar Wuthrich of Geo-
rgetown; Mr. and Mrs. Adolph
Hohertz of Austin and Mrs.
Lenora Wuthrich of Round
Rock.
Also present were the follow-
ing nieces and .nephews: Mr.
and Mrs. Herbert Wuthrich and
family Mr. and Mrs. Gerhardt
Wuthrich Mr. and Mrs. Nor-
man Fuessel and family and
Miss Yvonne Anderson all of
Taylor; Mr. and Mrs. Robert C.
Kuhl and daughter Mr. and
Mrs. Andy Becker and family
Mrs. Luther Herber and family
and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jae-
cks all of Austin ; Mr. and Mrs.
Arnold Leschber of Hutto; Mr.
and Mrs. Ernest Rohlack and

"An able pass receiver Pow-
ell also hauled in ten passes for
another 144 yards. He also
caught five touchdown passes
for the Class A Bulldogs
"On defense Powell was in-
volve'd in 100 tackles 68 of
which were unassisted. He re-
covered five fumbles and inter-
cepted three rasses."
Tommy Anderson in his col-
umn "Another View" in the
Austin American listed Powell
among "a few really great
ones" giving his accomplish-
ments for each of his four years
in high school and giving a
summary as follows:
"When you add up all of Pow-
ell's statistics over his four-
year Bartlett career it almost
sounds like something out of a
fairy tale.
"In four years only three on
offense ho carried the ball 49G
times for 3229 yards caught
46 passes for 782 yards and
scored 206 points on 29 touch
downs and 16 two-point conver
sions.
"Playing 42 games on defense
Powell was in on 537 tackles
the first man to make contact
222 times and nailing the
quarterback behind the lino of
scrimmage 40 times. During
this span he deflected 51 passes
and intercepted 10 tosses while
recovering & tumbles c
"The glowing words could go
on and on but it would still all
boil down to the original state-
ment a few great ones crop up
every year.

Christinas Party
Residents of the Will O' Bell
Nursing Home were entertain
ed with a Christmas party at
the nursing home on Sunday
afternoon Dec. 22.
Christmas carols were sung
and the Christinas story was
presented by Mrs. Bob Bunker.
Gifts were distributed to
each of the residents following
the close of the program.
Refreshments were served
to the residents and their visitors.
New Booklet Tells
Of Disability
Insurance Program
"If You Become Disabled" is
the title of a new edition of a
popular booklet in the social se-
curity district office now avail-
able in the Temple office Jack
Calvert district manager said
today.
This booklet explains in clear
and concise terms the latest
changes in the disability insur
ance program as well as the
basic orovisions of the law.
Copies of this new booklet may
be obtained by writing tele-
phoning or visiting the Tem-
ple social security district of-
fice he said.
This booklet may help to cor-
rect a number of misconceptions
about the disability insurance
program Calvert added.

rival of a 6 pound 14 ounce son
born on Dec. 24th in a Taylor
hospital. He has been named
Warren Douglas.

Great-grandparents are Mr.
and Mrs. Frank J. Martinka and
Mrs. Vcster White all of Gran-

Deadline Nears
For Fanners To
File Income Tax
Farmers ranchers and fish
ermen were reminded today
that Wednesday Jan. 15 is the
last day for filing their estimat-
ed Federal income tax returns
for 1968 unless they plan filing
their final return on or before
Feb. 17.
A. P. Andrews administrat
ive officer of Internal Revenue
Service in Temple explained
that those farmers ranchers
and fishermen who file an esti-
mated return on Jan. 15 and
pay the tax duo thereon have
until April 15 to file their final
return and pay any balance of
tax due. Otherwise the law re-
quires that they file their final
return and pay the full amount
of the tax due by February 17.
