LLOYD HINDMAN, cotton ginner, married Jessie
on Dec. 18, 1932, at Spur, his mother and father,
Mr. and Mrs. W.H, Hindman, live in Dickens and
his wife's father lives in Spur, he is W.S. Leach
During his three years of membership, he has been
a director. He belongs to the Texas Ginners Associa-
tion, Texas Farm Bureau, First Baptist Church, K.P.
Lodge, Chamber of Commerce and School Board. He
made his first money by driving to mules to press
hay and he bought a pocket knife with the money.
His first real job was at the Experiment station.
He finds his present occupation fascinating. He likes
to do yard work or work in his garden for relaxa-
tion. He is a graduate of Spur High School

NED HOGAN, Senior active, married Melvin on
June 11, 1911, at Ethel, Texas. He has been a member
for 27 years, being president, etc., he is a Steward
in the Methodist Church and has served in most of
the civic capacities in the town. He made his first
money planting corn and bought candy with it. His
first real job was with M.P. Exline Printing Com-
pany of Dallas, where he operated a ruling machine;
later he became a Salesman for Sol Davis, then
operated his own business. He had learned from othe
people that success belongs to those who work. He
likes to drive, watch TV and to goto shows for relax-
ation. He went to School in Bell County's one room
country school.

HARVEY S. HOLLY, Casulaty Insurance, married
Ermal on Aug. 12, 1936 at Spur. Her mother Mrs.
Ed Lisenby lives in Washington, D.C., his mother,
Mrs. L.W. Holly lives in Lubbock. During his 14
years as a member of Rotary Club, he has held the
office of "private", a good record of cooperation.
He is a member of the Church of Christ and the Spur
Golf Club. Bill Andrews has influenced him more
than any other person. He earned his first money
chopping cotton and declares that he spent it "care-
lessly". His first real job, was breaking new ground
with a walking, turning plow, barefooted. He farmed
and was a road overseer. His friends and customers
are responsible for his present interest in his occu-
pation. He likes dominoes and golf; but he is most
accomplished in his garden and fussing with his
wife. He graduated from Dickens High School, which
went all the way to the seventh grade then.

J.F. HUGHES, Obstrician, married Mona January
23, 1917 in Athens, Alabama. They have two children
and three grand children. He has been a member of
the Spur Rotary Club since 1941. Other memberships
include A.M.A., State Medical, Southern Medical,
A.A.G.P,, Masonic Shrine, First Christian Church, he
is an Elder, was president of HCMF MedicalAssocia-
tion for eight years. He made his first money picking
blackberries and spent it on a bow tie. His first
real job was as a street car conductor. He was a
foundry wagon driver, a camp surgeon and presidentof a school board for 17 years. He has learned from
other people to "do the right thing." He likes towork in his yard and garden, read and listen to the
radio. His special accomplishment is as an expert
rifleman. His schooling starts with Ninth District
Agricultural School two years of college, graduate
of University of Alabama, M.D.

REX HOLDER, Variety Store, married Margaret
on April 9, in Munday. His father and mother Mrs.
D. Holder, lives in Munday, and Mrs. Cretia Brooks,
his mother-in-law lives in Spur. He has been a
member of the Rotary Club for one year, serving
as director. As a grocery helper he earned his
first money and bought himself a white woolen
sweater. His first real job was in a drug store,
and he chose to run a variety store because it is the
only kind that sells for cash only. For 16 years he
managed a chain store. He has learned from other
people to be fair in your business dealings. He
likes to play golf for relaxation. He is a Deacon
in the Baptist Church, Director of the Chamber of
Commerce, Chairman of the Dickens County Disaster
program, member of the Ben Franklin Association.
He graduated from Munday High School.

FRED JENNINGS, Senior Active, Charter member
of the club and has served in many offices, including
president. He married Beenie on Feb. 15, in Spur.
He earned his first money working in the wheat har-
vest and spent it at a county picnic. His first real
job was with the Illinois Central Railway Company
in Chicago. He worked with Swift and Company,
Franklin McVery Company, Brazelton South Texas
Lumber Company. From other people he has learned
to give and take. For relaxation he likes bridge,
and mostly likes to read. He is an elder in the
Presbyterian Church, and a past Mayor of Spur.
He went to Park College, Parkville, Missouri, and
received an AB. Degree.

THOMAS P. JOHNSTON, Classification CottonFar-
mer, married Elnora on May 4, 1935 in Rotan. Tom
has been a member for eight years, serving as a
Director and on other jobs. He earned his first money
chopping cotton to buy clothes. His first real job was
as a retail salesman and he took it to get off the
farm. He was in the Dry Goods business for three
years in Jayton and then went back to the farm.
He says the biggest lesson in life is honesty. Tom
credits J.C. Bryant with influencing him a lot. He
likes to relax with his cows and his farm. He is a
good golfer. Tom has been a member of the Board
of Stewards of the Methodist Church for forty years.
He belongs to the Masons, and does a good job in
the local Red Cross. He attended High School in
Royse City, Texas.

OSCAR L. KELLEY, Senior Active, married Marie
on July 2, 1932, in Spur, despite the depression.
They have four children, two boys and two girls.
Carolyn, sweetheart of the Rotary Club in 1951-52-53
.and Kathleen, Dickens County Farm Bureau Queen in
1954, sponsored by the Spur Rotary Club. His mother,
Mrs. W.O. Kelly lives in Italy, Texas, and Marie's
mother lives in Spur, Mrs. F.N. Oliver. Oscar has
been a member since 1936 and has served as Se-
cretary, President and Chairman of most all com-
mittees at one time or another. He earned his first66
money picking cotton in Hill County and went to town
and bought himself a pink shirt. Now, some 25 years
