tory over a force of the enemy stationed at Lepantitlan,
near San Patricio. The detachment consisted of thirty
men, who fought the enemy-more than twice their
number-for about thirty minutes, when the latter retreated,
leaving them in possession of the field. They
sustained no loss; that of the enemy, in killed and
wounded, was twenty-eight.
On the 8th, a signal victory was gained over
the enemy, near Bexar, by a detachment from the
main army, sent out for the purpose of intercepting
reinforcements to General Cos. The detachment
consisted of twenty-seven men, who were attacked by
a company of one hundred and sixty of the Morelos
cavalry. The Texans immediately retired to a ravine,
from whence they opened so deadly a fire upon the enemy,
that they retreated precipitately towards San An.
tonio, with the loss of five killed and several wounded.
The Texans sustained no loss.
