Pr. EV. 4111. PREACHING SEMINAR. Religious
This is designed solely for the advanced student. It will be a concentrated semi- Education
nar and will utilize an off-campus personality of renown in the preaching field.
Fall and spring.
Prerequisite: Consent of instructor. One semester hour
Pr. EV. 4321. MISSIONS.
An introduction to the Biblical basis for missions, a brief history of the spread
of Christianity from the time of Christ to the present, a look at present missionary
strategy and endeavor with special emphasis on Southern Baptist missions.
Taught by a resident missionary when possible. Spring odd years.
Prerequisite: Bible 1311-1321. Three semester hours
Pr. EV. 4108-4608. INSTITUTE WORKSHOP.
One to six hours credit designed for a special short-term concentrated course
offered for a specific need for a specific group. One to six semester hours

A B.A. with a major in Religious Education requires 28 hours (21 advanced)
distributed as follows: Religious Education-12 hours, Bible-6 hours, Practical
Theology-4 honrs, Inter-Disciplinary Studies-3 hours, and Bible or Practical
Theology-3 hours.
A minor requires: Religious Education-9 hours, Bible-6 hours, Practical
Theology-4 hours. (12 hours must be advanced.)
Because some students, both male and female, feel a definite call into the
educational ministry of the churches and are receiving no ministerial aid, they
may choose to earn a B.S. Degree with a major in Religious Education. The
basic general requirements will remain the same except the language requirement
will be reduced to eight hours. The B.S. major requires 36 hours (30
advanced) distributed as follows: Religious Education-14 hours, Bible-9 hours,
Practical Theology-7 hours, Inter-Disciplinary Studies-3 hours, and electives
3 hours.
REL. ED. 3281. WORKSHOP FOR YOUTH DIRECTORS.
Practicum in youth activities, organizations, practical materials and organized
group study. Off campus personalities will be utilized. May be repeated.
Spring.
Prerequisite: Bible 1311-1321. Two semester hours
REL. ED. 3311. CHURCH AND DENOMINATION.
A study of the nature, mission, and organizations of the local Baptist church, the
Baptist General Convention of Texas, and The Southern Baptist Convention.
This course is required of all students who receive aid from the Baptist
General Convention of Texas. Fall, summer.
Prerequisite: Bible 1311-1321 and PTh. 1100. Three semester hours73
