opportunity to gain leadership experience in academic
activities.
GRADUATION HONORS WILL BE:
* Cum Laude-A grade point average of 3.55 to 3.69
* Magna Cum Laude-A grade point average of 3.70 to 3.84
* Summa Cum Laude-A grade point average of 3.85 to 4.00
In addition to the grade point average, the following conditions must
be met:
* A minimum of 60 semester hours taken at Howard Payne.
* An average based upon all semester hours attempted, except for a
WD or WP, including transfer work.
ACADEMIC PROBATION
Academic probation will be imposed at the end of any semester where
a student does not maintain a "C" average or at the time when the
over-all average drops below "C". A committee, chaired by the
Academic Dean, will notify the students and parents of probationary
status, that is, probation beginning, probation continued or probation
removed.
ACADEMIC SUSPENSION
Students who allow their over-all G.P.A. to fall below 1.5 at the end
of any academic year will be suspended for the following fall semester.
Students who enter at mid-term must pass at least one academic
course (those having 3 or 4 hours credit). Suspension will be for the
fall semester.
If a student is suspended he may be admitted conditionally in the
fall if he attends summer school at Howard Payne, making at least a
"C" average in 6 hours of academic courses. Failure to meet this
condition will allow his fall suspension to remain in force.
If a student desires to re-enter the University after the time has
elapsed for which he was suspended, he must present a new application
for admission, This will be considered by the Admissions committee
and the student will be notified of the action taken by this Committee.
NON-ACADEMIC SUSPENSION
If a student is suspended for non-academic reasons, he will be given
a WD, WP or WF as indicated under Withdrawal from the University. 47
