Loan Funds
expressed wish that an unrestricted revolving fund with low interest rates
be made available to any worthy student.
James Lowry Smith Fund: Mr. J. A. Walker gave a $5,000.00 endowment
to be used as a loan fund in memory of his life-time friend
and partner, the late James Lowry Smith of Amarillo, Texas. The
interest from the fund will be used for loans to students of outstanding
scholarship, character, and personality whose lives may become memorials
to a great friend of Christian education.
Dr. Tallie Williams Memorial Loan Fund: This fund to be available
to Latin American ministerial students. Each loan not to exceed
$100.00 per semester.
Yantis Fund: A fund established by Mrs. Manen Yantis Stribling of
Waco, Texas, in loving memory of Thomas Caldwell and Ellender
Elizabeth Yantis for the purpose of assisting deserving students at
Howard Payne.
Howard Payne University General Student Loan Fund: This fund is
made up of contributions and donations without designation or special
restrictions:

East Fourth Street Baptist Church Loan Fund: This fund was established
by friends of the East Fourth Street Baptist Church, Big Spring,
Texas, to help worthy students. First preference will be given to students
who are members of the church with the selection criteria being
academic standing and financial need. The funds are administered by
the Howard Payne University Scholarship and Loan Committee and the
pastor of the church.
F. L. Warrington Loan Fund: This fund was established by Mr. and
Mrs. T. Bentley Warrington and family to help needy and deserving
Howard Payne students.
Thomas W. McKneely and Eunice C. McKneely Student Aid Fund:
This fund was established by Reverend Thomas W. McKneely and
family, Durham, North Carolina, to help needy and deserving Howard
Payne students.
W. S. Wagley Loan Fund: Mr. W. S. Wagley has established a loan
fund to be designated for ministerial students.
