Students receiving all-level certification will receive degrees
in their respective academic disciplines. Primary advisement
should be in the respective department, with joint
advisement in the Education Department. Joint
advisement forms, which are initiated in the Education
Department, should be signed by both advisers.
Departmental requirements for All-Level Art, Music, and
Physical Education; and Secondary Vocational Home
Economics certification are as follows:
1. Education, 18 hrs.: EDUC 311, 321, 412, 432;
EDUC 488 and 498 (Six weeks of full days at each
level); plus READ 322. All-Level Music students
substitute MUSE 333 for EDUC 412. Vocational
Home Economics students take HEFS 470, 471, and
472 instead of EDUC 412, 431, 488, and 498.
2. Major, 37-63 hrs.: Certification requirements are:
All-LevelArt, 48 hrs.: ART 101*, 105, 106, 111,
112, 221, 222, 315, 323, 331, 341, 361, 371,
487, 488; plus one 3-hr art elective.
All-Level Music, 63 hrs.: MUST 111, 112, 131, 132,
211, 212, 231, 232, 331, 332, 432; MUSE 332,
334; and MUSM 132, 431, 432. Students with a
concentration in Band or Orchestra must also take
5 hrs from MUSE 110, 113, 114, 115, 116, 117,
118, 119; MUSE 222; and 14 hours of applied
major; they must also pass the piano proficiency
test. Those with a concentration in Piano must
take MUSE 335 and 16 hours in piano (applied
major) and 4 in voice (applied minor). Students
with a concentration in Voice must take MUSE
336; MISC 217, 218; and 14 hours in voice
(applied major) and 4 hours in piano (applied
minor).
All-Level Physical Education, 37 hrs.: PE 110, 121,
122, 232, 241, 244, 245, 333, 334, 361, 362,
464, 465, 470, 476, 490, 498, plus one 3-hour
advanced PE elective. (Students working on the
PE. specialization take PE 121, 122, 244, and 245
