82 Geology
Geology
Geology is concerned with the processes operating in and
on the earth, and consequently geological research overlaps
with such fields as chemistry, physics, and biology.
The geology student can choose from many specialties,
each requiring familiarity with all facets of earth study.
Economic applications are increasing as more non-renewable
natural resources are located and exploited. While
the university does not offer a full degree program in Geology,
some courses are offered. Elementary Geoscience,
GEOL 101, may be used to satisfy a portion of the
General Education Requirements in the science area. Introduction
to Geology, GEOL 111, includes laboratory
work and is intended to assist Education majors in fulfilling
state accreditation standards.
