General Studies 81
General Studies
The General Studies Program is designed to assist two
groups of students, those who have not decided on a
major and those new students whose ACT scores indicate
they need additional academic preparation for collegelevel
studies. Services provided include advising, scheduling
and monitoring academic progress. Current faculty
members are listed at the end of this section.
Once the undecided student has chosen a major or the
developmental student has completed the required
General Studies courses, he is assigned an advisor in the
department of his major field of study.
Students who are required to take General Studies courses
(as explained under "Initial Academic Programs," p. 15)
must enroll in the required courses during their first year
at ACU. They cannot withdraw from one of these courses
unless they test out or prove, by retaking the ACT, that
they do not need the course. Transferred credit does not
meet General Studies requirements.
The courses offered for academic development through
the program are listed below. These courses are considered
additions to General Education requirements and
may not be substituted for any other required or elective
courses.
