ISQS 426 Management of Data Processing within the Corporation
(3-0-3), fall. Comprehensive study of the data processing function within
the corporation. Obtaining computer services, hardware operation,
software development, training and management of personnel, quality
control and security measures are all topics for class consideration. The
course is enhanced by field trips to operational computer centers. Prerequisite:
ISQS 320 or concurrent enrollment.
ISQS 499 Guided Study (3-0-3)*, on demand. An independent study to
allow a student to devote studies to an area of information systems not
covered in class. Prior arrangements must be made with a faculty member
before registering for this course. Course fee: $50.

MGMT 130 Introduction to Business (2-0-1), fall, spring. The study of
business as a professional career and as an institution.
MGMT 330 Management and Organizational Behavior (3-0-3), fall,
spring. An introduction to the process of management. Attention is
given to management philosophy, planning, decision-making, organization
structure, social relationships, group behavior, leadership, motivation,
and control. Prerequisites: ACCT 201; ECON 260 and 261.
MGMT 331 Production Management (3-0-3), fall, spring. A study of
the production operations function in business, including the creation of
both goods and services. Study is centered on design, location, and
operation of the production operations management system and its interrelationship
with other systems in the organization. Course fee: $50.
Prerequisites: MGMT 330 or concurrent enrollment, and ISQS 322 or
concurrent enrollment.
MGMT 332 Human Resources Management (3-0-3), fall, spring.
Development of personnel work, organization and functions of personnel
management, with special emphasis on job analysis, employment procedures,
compensation, training programs, and collective bargaining.
Prerequisite: MGMT 330.
MGMT 334 Managerial Communication (3-0-3), fall, spring. A study
of managerial communication in the contemporary, technological environment.
Emphasis on intra-organizational electronic communication.
MGMT 335 Leadership (3-0-3), on demand. The study, comparison,
and contrast of leadership traits, leaders, and leadership strategies.
Prerequisite: MGMT 330.
MGMT 432 Management of Small Business (3-0-3), fall, spring.
Theory, general principles and practice required to initiate and manage a
small business successfully. Includes practical application of these concepts through counseling existing small businesses and conducting appropriate
research upon which to base recommendations to solve their
problems. Prerequisites: MGMT 330, 331, and senior standing.
MGMT 434 Business and Society (3-0-3), fall, spring. An examination
of business and its interrelationship with the physical, social, and cultural
aspects of society. Topics include business ideology, ethics, operational
consequences, and responsibilities within a changing, uncertain environment.
Prerequisite: senior class standing.
MGMT 435 Organizational Theory (3-0-3), fall. An examination of
complex, formal organizations as systems linked into an environment. A
focus on organization goals, structure, internal processes, environment.
While particular emphasis is placed on the business organization, general
concepts are developed that apply to all types of organizations. Prerequisite:
MGMT 330, 331, and senior class standing.
MGMT 436 Organizational Behavior (3-0-3), spring. An analysis of individual,
group, and organizational variables which inhibit or facilitate effective
organizational functioning. Topics include rewards, motivation,
leadership, culture, decision-making, and ethics. Prerequisite: senior
class standing.
MGMT 439 Administrative Policy (3-0-3), fall, spring. Formulation
and interpretation of policy, executive responsibilities, and decisionmaking;
administrative practices and business ethics; lectures, case
problems, and business simulation game. Capstone course. Prerequisite:
upper division business core.
MGMT 499 Guided Study (3-0-3)*, on demand. An independent study

Marketing
MKTG 340 Principles of Marketing (3-0-3), fall, spring. Marketing
structures and agencies, current marketing practices. Types of middlemen,
marketing institutions, and channels. Marketing of industrial
and consumer goods. Prerequisites: ACCT 201, ECON 260, and 261.
MKTG 341 Sales Techniques and Management (3-0-3), fall, spring.
The role of selling in the marketing mix. Principles and methods of personality
development and agent-to-client problem solving. Prerequisite:
MKTG 340.
MKTG 344 Marketing Promotion (3-0-3), spring. A review of sales
and advertising functions, as well as publicity, public relations, and sales
promotion approaches. A managerial strategic planning perspective will
be assumed. Prerequisite: MKTG 340.
MKTG 345 Retailing (3-0-3), spring. A study of the principles that underlie
the successful distribution of products and services to ultimate consumers.
Included will be an evaluation of the changing concepts of retailing
from a management viewpoint. Prerequisite: MKTG 340.
MKTG 346 Marketing Channels and Distribution (3-0-3), fall. An examination
of the economic, social, and political aspects of channels in
the U.S. Includes a study of the various modal components (rail, highway,
pipe-line, air, and water transportation), channels, and logistics of
distribution. Prerequisite: MKTG 340.
MKTG 441 Consumer Behavior (3-0-3), fall, spring. The buyer as a
problem solver; buying decision process: factors influencing behavior;
principles, theories, and models. Data developed by behavioral science
is employed to discern and explain consumer behavior. Emphasis is
placed on integrating this data into current marketing practices. Prerequisite:
MKTG 340.
MKTG 442 Marketing Research (3-0-3), spring. A study of the role of
market research in the modern business organization. Emphasis on the
collection, analysis, and interpretation of data as applied to the solution
of marketing problems. Course fee: $50. Prerequisites: ISQS 322,
MKTG 340.
MKTG 443 Marketing Problems (3-0-3), on demand. A case-oriented
approach to synthesize and integrate marketing objectives, strategies,
and tactics. Course fee: $50. Prerequisites: MKTG 340 and 442.
