your future in
biology
Completion of two four-story halls to Foster
Science Building means a tripling of space available
to the Department of Biology. This, in
turn, means an expanded program for students
and research.
New facilities for the department include a
fully equipped herbarium and plant taxonomy
room as well as specially-equipped laboratories
for physiology, anatomy, microbiology, radiation
biology, and faculty research. Two new laboratories
are furnished especially for freshman biology
and other facilities are available for advanced
students.
The department, even prior to the addition
of space and facilities, achieved an excellent
record of educating its graduates for placement
in educational positions, industry, research, and
in graduate and professional schools.
The demand for graduates in biology education
usually exceeds the supply. If you want to
be a biology teacher, the ACC biology faculty
will provide top quality training for you by
maintaining a close relationship with public
school science educators in order to keep abreast
of the needs of the secondary teacher.
If your goal is a position in industry or
research you will be among those who receive
praise from their employers when company
representatives come to the campus each year
for interviews with our graduating seniors.Or, you may want to be among the high
proportion of our graduates who go to graduate
school or to one of the professional schools of
medicine, dentistry, etc. Previous graduates
have established a record of high achievement.
Their depth of biology training plus their broad
background of required supporting courses prepared
them well for successful work in graduate
or professional schools.
