Department of Speech

The Department of Speech has three primary aims: to improve
the general speech habits of the student body as a whole, to develop
the more talented among the number in actual speaking performance,
and to provide an adequate background of training for those
who expect to teach speech in elementary and secondary schools.
The department has two divisions: public speaking, and dramatic
art. Either of these may be used as a major for a Bachelor of
Arts degree, with possible minor in English, Bible, Education,
History, Business Administration, Home Economics, Music,
or Physical Education.75
