350-Book Selection.
Principles and methods of selecting books for certain types of
libraries. Books are read and studied to develop skill in
judging value of books for library purchase and for different
types of readers. Book selection aids, book review magazines
book lists of well-known publishers, and the writing of book
criticisms.
351-Reference.
The aim of this course is to give the student thorough acquaintance
with important reference works as encyclopedias, dictionaries,
magazine indexes, and biographical dictionaries, together
with ability to use them well.
Department of Mathematics
Mr. Mullings Mr. Lewis Mr. Sikes
Mathematics 302, Mathematics of Finance, is designed for students
interested in the business administration field, and for all
those who desire only the minimum of college mathematics with
the emphasis on its application to everyday problems. Mathematics
302 must be preceeded by either Mathematics 301 or 313, depending
upon high school preparation and ability. The first three
weeks of the first semester will be spent in determining ability and
then recommendations will be made to each student on choice between
M. 301 and 313. The six hours of mathematics selected by the
student constitutes a continuous course and should be completed
in the student's first or second year.
Students who have had extra training in high school mathematics
(three years or more) and who are interested in science, engineering,
pre-medics, or mathematics may take Mathematics 313314
and should consult the head of the Mathematics Department
before registering.
For Pre-Engineering Students
Because certain courses are given only in alternate years, students
interested in engineering should consult the schedule of
classes in selecting from the following courses:
Freshman Year Sophomore Year
Bible 311, 312 Bible 321, 322
English 311, 312 English 321, 322
Mathematics 313-314 Mathematics 6 hours
Twelve hours selected from The 12 hours not selected in the
Eng. Drawing 311-312 freshman year in the listed
Physics 313-314 courses.

French or German 301-302Courscm of Instruction
