322-The Organization and Administration of the Elementary
Curriculum.
Special attention will be given to problems bearing on the
administration of the elementary school curriculum.
350-Teaching the Language Arts in the Eelementary Grades.
A course dealing with the teaching of reading, language and
spelling in the elementary school.
353-Teaching the Social Studies in the Elementary Grades.
In this course the students apply current prinicples of education
in the development of a social studies program. Much
time will de devoted to the development of units of work.
Students will be taught to select and organize social science
materials for the purpose of developing social skills, understandings,
and appreciations.
251--Teaching Arithmetic in the Eelmentary Grades.
The purpose of this course is to acquaint the student with ideas
and teaching practices relating to arithmetic in the modern
curriculum.
364-Audio-Visual Instruction.
A comprehensive course dealing with the application of the
principles of educational psychology in the use of visual, audiovisual
and auditory aids in the instructional program.
366-Organization of the Curriculum for Character Education.
A search for methods and materials that may be used in fostering
desirable habits, attitudes and ideals in the prowing child.
381-The Curriculum in Primary Education.
A course dealing with activities and materials employed in the
primary grades. Each student will be required to write up a
unit of work. Prerequisite: six hours in the elementary curriculum.383-Curriculum Construction in the Elementary Grades.
A laboratory course in curriculum construction involving the
application of modern phiyosophy of education to the development
of the administration in the elementary curriculum.
482-Observation and Practice Teaching in the Primary Grades.
Analysis of teaching problems, observation and practice teaching
under the direction of critic teachers. A minimum of ninety
clock hours in the Demonstration School required. Prerequisite:
Education 383.
