V. The languages.-Through which the individual learns how to
express his thoughts effectively.
VI. Health.-Through which the individual develops such
habits, knowledges, and patterns of conduct as will enable him to
take care of his physical and mental health in the many situations
that he will confront.
During the first two years that a student is enrolled in college,
he should pursue courses in each of these fields and be free during
the last two years to continue work in the fields in which he is most
interested and that may contribute to vocational preparation.
We urge, therefore, that students be guided by the following
suggested courses when they register:

Those who desire a teacher's certificate at the end of the sophomore
year should see "Department of Education," page 47, for certificate
requirements.
Students who have had a foreign language in high school and
who expect to continue that language in college, are urged to take it
in the freshman year.
Students interested in pre-law see page 73.
Ministerial students should follow recommendations of Bible department.
See page 40.
Students interested in taking a pre-engineering course should
see page 66. Those interested in a pre-medical course see page 68.--
Not later than the beginning of his junior year, the student
should choose his major subject. His major professor then becomes
his adviser and approves all of his courses. He should, in consultation
with his adviser, plan his work so that he will meet the following
requirements for graduation.
If a student is deficient in English he should place this subject
on his schedule for extra work. The dean reserves the right, upon
the recommendation of any instructor, to prescribe additional work
in English for any student.
Certain members of the faculty are appointed to act as advisers
for freshmen and sophomores.rtn~llana e *f Arft and Sciencese
