systems of vertebrates. Dissection of Amphioxus, Dogfish

animals, with study of principles underlying their control.

Study of prepared microscopic slides of various tissues and
organs of the mammal, emphasizing the structural characteristics
of each. Prerequisite: 311, 312. Two lectures and six
hours laboratory.
381-Histological Technique.
The fundamentals of making permanent microscopic slides.
Serial sections, whole mounts of vertebrate embryos, and
tissues of vertebrate organs. Prerequisites: 311, 312, 380. Two
lectures and six hours laboratory each week.
384-Embryology.
Studies of germ cells, maturation, fertilization, cleavage,
etc., and a study of the early stages of development of the
frog, the chick, and the pig. Prerequiites: 311, 312, 341, 342.
Two lectures and six hours laboratory each week.
390-Bacteriology.
Principles of bacteriology. Morphology, culture, and staining
studies of representative bacteria with emphasis on organisms
of industrial or pathological significance. Prerequisites: Six
hours of biology or chemistry. Two lectures and four hours

391-Human Physiology.
Human physiology, with special stress on nutrition, circulation,
respiration, muscular activity, and the nervous system.
Experiments illustrating fundamental physiological processes.

392-Human Physioligy.
A continuation of 391. Two lectures and four hours of laboratory

Chemistry
A student who elects chemistry as a major subject may choose
biology, mathematics, home economics or education as a minor
subject.
In addition to the work in the major and minor fields a student
must complete twelve hours of French or German, twelve
hours of mathematics, and six hours of physics. Women students
