The Press Club Award.-An award is given to the young lady
or the young man doing the best work in the Press Club, the individual
to be determined by a secret vote of the Club.
Piano Award.-Two medals are given in the piano department
by Leonard Burford in honor of his father. A medal goes to the student
doing the most outstanding work in the studio of each of the
piano teachers of the college.
Voice Award.-In honor of her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs.
Nathan Harsh, Mrs. Walter H. Adams gives two awards in the department
of voice, one each to the young man, and the young lady
doing the most 'outstanding work, and showing the most improvement
during the year.
The Dean's Award.-Each year Dean Walter H. Adams gives a
medal to that member of the graduating class who in the judgement
of a comittee of the faculty has shown the greatest improvement as
a student in Abilene Christian College.
Nannie E. Ferguson Scholarship.-February 21, 1941, Abilene
Christian College received $826.32 through the will of Nannie E.
Ferguson of Franklin, Tennessee. The will specified that the income
from this fund is "to be used by the college to help educate worthy
boys and girls who are desirous of an education." The income from
this fund will amount to $50. for each 9 months. The student each
year who benefits from this scholarship will be selected by the Administration
of the College in accordance with the will of the donor.
Jennie Clark Memorial Scholarship
On September 11, 1930, the Board of Trustees of the College in
appreciation of the services rendered by the late Mrs. Jennie Clark
of Luling, Texas to orphan children, and in appreciation of her
friendship for A. C. C., created the Jennie Clark Memorial Scholarship.
These scholarships provide for free tuition for one orphan
boy and one orphan girl each year. These students are to be recommended
by a committee appointed by the board of trustees of the
college.
The Adams Memorial Scholarship Fund
This fund of $3,000.00 was established in November, 1938,by the
children of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Adams in memory of their father
and mother. The campus site of Abilene Christian College, which
was purchased in 1927, is a part of the old homestead of the Adams
family.
The income from this fund is awarded annually to some young
man or woman who has given evident mentality, character, leadership,
and need for financial assistance.
Eligibility
No student is eligible for any of these awards who does not take
at least twelve hours in the College or three courses in the Demonstration
school from the first of the school year in which the contest
