SESSION OF 1920-'21
Fourth.-Each student will be required to make, before graduation,
thirty-six courses with an average grade of B; at least nine of which
must be advanced. Four of the nine advanced courses must be in the
major subject. In addition the student must make one hundred and
eighty points.
Additional courses will be required of all students who fail to make
the required number of points, or who fail to make the average
grade. The number of courses required will be determined by the
grade and points made on the additional work. Enough courses will
be required to satisfy the fourth requirement above.
Fifth.-Each student will be required to write a thesis of about
5,000 words on some phase of his major subject. The outline must
be approved by the professor in charge not later than March 15 of
his senior year, and the final copy of the thesis submitted to the committee
not later than May 15 of the same year. A typewritten copy
of the thesis must be left in the library.
Sixth.-If we know it, we will not grant the B. A. degree to any
student who is a cigaret fiend.
Seventh.-A student must do at least seven of his thirty-six
courses while registered as a senior, three of which must be in his
major subject. This requirement may be waived by the Dean in
case the senior is a former student of Abilene Christian College.
CERTIFICATES
The permanent state certificate which is valid for life and in any
part of the state, will be conferred by the State Department of Education,
upon the student who has satisfied the requirements for the
Bachelor of Arts Degree and who has taken as many as seven and
'two-fifths courses in the Department of Education of the college.
The first grade state certificate will be conferred upon any student
who takes as many as two courses in education, has twelve
entrance units, and seven other college courses.
STUDENT ACTIVITIES REQUIREMENT
The faculty of Abilene Christian College believes that the student
activities of the college are helpful and that every student ought
to engage in some sort of work outside of the class room.
The student who receives the degree of Bachelor of Arts must
have completed enough of such work to total sixty points, or an average
of fifteen points for each year of work here. Credit on this requirement
is given as follows:
