Department of the Bible
113.-enesis and Exodus will be studied with carefully arranged
outline, the books being divided into Parts, Sections, and Paragraphs,
accompanied by Queries calling forth the principal thoughts.
123.-An analytical study of The Law of Moses as revealed throughout
the Pentateuch. We consider this a most valuable and helpful
course. It gives The Historical View of the enactments; the Funda-.
mental Law; The Religious Code; The Civil Code.
133.-Historical outline of Joshua, Judges, and Ruth.
Bible 142.-This and the next two courses form a general outline
of the entire Bible. It is for those who have never studied the Bible
and for any who may desire a general review of the Book as a whole.
Introductions and brief outlines are given for each book, and the
courses take the work in chronoligcal order. Lectures and parallel
give contemporary history.
Bible 152.-This quarter begins with the restoration of the Jews
and covers the inter-biblical period thoroughly. Thus students approach
the study of the Gospels with a grasp of the real conditions
in the holy lands. Selections will be made from the several Gospels
so as to afford the student a fairly accurate grasp of the life, work,
and teaching of Jesus.
Bible 162.-The spring quarter covers the establishment and growth
of the church. The Epistles are read in the order in which they
were written. Brief outlines are given of the purpose, contents, and
setting of each letter.
In this and the last two mentioned courses. the major portion of
the entire Bible is read, and the literary value, ethical standards,
and religious variations are pointed out.
Bible 172.-This course is for College students who desire a whole
year in New Testament study. It covers in detail the book of Matthew.
Outline, memory work, and interpretation are the main features.
One book of outside parallel reading is required.
Bible 182.-The quarter is devoted to the book of Acts. Some
memory work and a careful study of the spread of Christianity from
Jerusalem, most of the time being a study of missions under the
Apostle Paul. Outlines and map drawing. Short biography of Paul
is required parallel.
Bible 192.-A study in Hebrews. The spring term will consist
of careful outline of the book and study of its contents. A book of
outside parallel on the Apostolic Age is required.
213.-Development of the history of the Israelites from the birth
of Samuel to the Establishment of the Kingdom under David. I and'
II Samuel.44
