42 ABILENE CHRISTIAN COLLEGE
- ~~~.........SELECTING A COURSE OF STUDY.
In selecting a course of study, the student must first choose
those subjects in which he is in arrears. College work may
not be assigned until all preparatory work is completed or
assigned. The student should choose his course next from the
list of courses under the head of "Requirements for Graduation."
Those required courses are designed to afford a basis
of general culture which everyone should have before specialization
is begun, and it is, therefore, urged that much of this
work be done in the freshman and sophomore years.
The student will be required to choose one of the "groups"
by the beginning of the junior year.
If a student is deficient in English he will do well to place
this subject on his schedule for extra work. The Dean reserves
the right, upon the recommendation of any instructor, to prescribe
additional work in English to any student.
The Dean will act as an advisor to all freshman and sophomore
students, but after the choice of a "group" is made each
student will take the instructor in charge of his major subjects
as his advisor. No work should be taken without consulting
his advisor.
DEGREE.
The degree of Bachelor of Arts degree will be conferred
upon those who satisfy the following requirements:
REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATION.
It is the purpose of Abilene Christian College to accept
as far as possible the idea of the elective system. In prescribing
the requirements for graduation certain modifications
of the elective system must be made in order that the interests
of both the student and the institution may be safeguarded.
First.-Each student will be required to satisfy the entrance
requirements of fifteen standard high school units.
Second.-Each student will be required to take the following
courses or their equivalent.
