ing it will be ideal. At present we have three good brick buildings
and two frame, all well furnished and equipped, new and modern.
LIBRARY
The General Library-Gradually a choice circulating library has
been built up, now numbering over 3500 volumes. The working value
of the library is increased many fold by the use of a series of card
indexes from which the student can find all the volumes in the library
treating any given subject.
The Reference Library-The design is to furnish students all the
desirable assistance, by means of encyclopedias, dictionaries, and leading
text-books. In this department we have over 1000 volumes. The
library is furnished with seven sets of standard encyclopedias.
Daisy Hall-Bro. Sewell's private library of over 700 volumes is
open to any student of A. C. C.
Carnegie Library-This is a splendid public library of several
thousand volumes, which is maintained at a cost of $1800 a year to
the city of Abilene. Our students have free access to it.
READING ROOM
What to read, and how to read it, is a question of profound impor.
tance. To encourage and stimulate reading along proper lines, the
present chapel hall will be converted into a reading room. It will
be furnished with several of the leading periodicals, daily papers, and
religious papers. This change cannot be made however until our new
administration building is completed. The present library and reading
room will be used until that time.
ORGANIZATIONS
The advantages of attending college are not confined to the text
books. Students need some sort of work outside of their regular
school work. "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy." Change
of occupation, and not idleness, rests and develops the mind. Believing
co-operation and organization necessary in order that the most good
may be realized, we require each student to become a member of at
least one of the student organizations.
GLEE CLUBThis organization is maintained for the purpose of developing
singers among our boys. During the past year the Glee Club gave12
