are permitted to belong to the club. In addition to skill and ability,
each student who gets an A and is entitled to membership in the A
Club, must be of high moral standing. A failure to live up to these
ideals in after life forfeits the membership and the individual will be
required to return his letter. The letters will be awarded commencement
morning of each year. One of the great honors of the school
is membership in this Club.
M. ZELLNER LITERARY SOCIETY
This society is composed of both boys and girls. It was organized
at the beginning of the session of 1913-'14, and has done excellent work
during the four years. The programs are varied and offer excellent
opportunities to those who avail themselves of membership in this
society.
JAS. A. HARDING LITERARY SOCIETY
This society was also organized at the beginning of the session
of 1913-'14, and is composed of both boys and girls. The excellency o0
this society is shown by the honors it has won.
SEWELL SOCIETY
This society was organized for the benefit of the younger boys
and girls. Students in the Junior High School are supposed to hold
membership in this society. This society was organized during the
session of 1917-'18, and is named for our president.
THE ALAMO DEBATING CLUB
The purpose of this organization is to encourage and assist young
men in public speaking and debating. This club will furnish the
college debaters.
ATHLETICS
It shall be our purpose to make athletics a means to an end.
We have ample grounds on the campus for basket-ball, volley-ball, and
tennis. The Hughes baseball park is only two blocks from the campus.
The work will be directly under the management of Mr. Morlan
and Mr. McCasland. We refer you to the Department of Physical
Training for additional information.
ALUMNIDuring the sessions of 1916-'17 an Alumni Association was organized.
