Digging and Loading of ensilage from trench

This community has been snowed
in the past spell with the rest of
the Panhandle Road crews have
been working many long and tiresome
hours trying to get the roads
open taking emergency cases first
Many roads in this precinct are still
closed The south Wayside road
was partially opened Sunday by
noon
No services the past two Sundays
at the Fairview church due to the
blocked roads
The ordination service for Bro
Billy Hale has been set for this
coming Sunday at the Fairview
church at 230 pm
No real casualties around here
due to the storm but many inci
dents were reported It took thirteen
hours to reach the G L Miller
farm from Canyon and transport
Mr and Mrs Blake Zachry and
daughter to Canyon The Zachrys
expecting the arrival of their se
cond child left their home Thursday
aided by Jack Sutton and finally
reached the G L Millers Saturday
the emergency crews and Dr
Ncblett from Canyon reached them
and transported them to Canyon
Mrs Jesse Lee and six children
who live on the A W Montgomery
farm were out of Butane from Saturday
until Tuesday They transferred
to the vacant house and used
the fireplace and dead trees Tuesday
Mrs Lee and Donald Walked
the to miles to the H H Ship
mans Mr Shipman took the necessary
hook ups and hooked up to
the farm fuel tank
Mr Lee and Freddie were working
at Denver City Texas
Mr and Mrs J W Wesley ran
out of Butane on Sunday Joyce
Lane dealer from Wayside and neighbors
reached them Monday afternoonMr G L Miller was out of pocket

George Lash farm In the Salem
community Mr Miller spent one
night with Mr and Mrs Ben Wile
man and one night with the Warren
Knowles Mrs Miller was ill
with the flu at her home Mr Millers
absence caused quite an alarm
and several men were looking for
himMost
Most of the telephones were out
of order during the storm Some
were out ten days others only a few
days while some around Wayside are
still out at this writing
Mr and Mrs H II Shipman with
the aid of Vilo Danner and his snowplow
got to Happy Thursday taking
three hours from the Danner place
Groceries and supplies were brought
back for the Lees Reads and G E
Wcsleys which were delivered by
tractor
Mr and Mrs Edward Bryan and
children went into Tulia and stayed
with Mrs Bryans folks part of
the storm period
Mrs Frank Rogers was brought
home from an Amarillo hospital on
Wednesday the day the storm hit
Mr and Mrs Rogers were able to
get to town on Tuesday for a checkup
with the doctor
Jerry Shipman was able to get out
Wednesday going south to Tulia and
back to Canyon where he is staying
to meet classes at WT
Mr and Mrs J W Wesley and
the John Pattersons were caught
drift
away from home due to the
ing snow for a night or more The
Wesleys stayed with Mrs Ella
Hct and the L G Alrharts In
Happy
Mr and Mrs Charles Wilson and
children of Plalnvicw are visiting
his parents the E M Wilsons
Mrs M F Evans is still critically
ill in the Swisher County hospital
at Tulia
