At a recent meeting of the Seventh District Executive
Board of the Texas Federation of Womens Clubs two Tulia
women Mrs L E McDonald and Mrs Clyde Kilpatrick
were selected to serve on the board
Mrs McDonald is to serve as
the Community Affairs Department
Community Service Chairman in
Mrs Kiipatnck is to serve as chairman
of ESO Division of Education
Department These appointments are
for two years
Mrs McDonald and Mrs Kilpat
rick arc both members of the Tulia
Literary Arts Club and both currently
hold offices in the club
A board meeting of the 7th District
met in Childress Septmber 23
and both Mrs McDonald and Mrs
Kilpatrick were present

The Needlecraft club met Thursday
with Mrs J W McGlaun with
10 members and one guest present

The monthly meeting of the MOCY
was held at Nazareth on Sunday
Sept 1G Following benediction of
the Most Blessed Sacrament at 730
pm games were played in the community
hall During the course of
the evening watermelons were served
as refreshments The meeting
was opened and closed with a prayer
by Rev Father Clctus from Hereford
Members from Hereford Urn

attendance
The regular meeting of the Naza
reth Children of Mary was held on
Monday Sept 17 The meeting was
called to order by Miss Eileene
Schulle and Denis Hoclting led the
Sodalists in the recitation of The
Little Office Business discussed
was a change of meeting date to
accommodate those in the Army Reserve
The Halloween dance and
the talen show to be held in Um
barger at the next MOCY meeting
on Oct 2S
Nazareth students taking prizes
in the County Fair held at Dimmitt
were Ronnie Braddock first and Re
serve Grand Champion in Poland
China gilts Gerald first in the Sears
Gilt Division Freddie Ball fifth in

At the TriState Fair at Amarillo
Gerald Acker took fifth place with

Mr Jarto at the ago of nine played

Bruch and Mendelssohn In the Budapest
Royal Opera House Among his
selections were Ave Maria Minuet
Donkey Serenade Hot Canary
and Four Strings his own
composition He was accompanied
at the piano by Mr Kennedy Freeman
who also played two solo
numbers on his instrument

falling and breaking her hip September
14 and is doing very well in the

September 15 Mrs Modisette put
the call in at 6 am from Amarillo
and got through to England at 8
am which was 230 pm over there
They talked 14 minutes and all enjoyed
the far away visit by telephone
very much The reception was
very good considering the distance
Mrs Modisette has been in the U S
A for 10 years June 23
Garden Club Tours
Palo Duro Park
Ten members of the Tulia Garden
club made a pilgrimage to the Palo
Duro State Park recently
The purpose was to study nature
especially the species of plants
shrubs and trees native to this section
of the country
The ruins of the Goodnight dugout
was also visited
The Lodge and premises were in
spected
Many pictures of interest were
taken by Mrs Q B Workman and
Mrs R L Massey
At noon the women enjoyed a picnic
lunch at one of the many picnic
tables provided for picnickers
Those making the pilgrimage were
