Modern slip covers are not
mere shrouds to drauc over our
iurniturc to keep out the dust
during the summer as they used
to be They are tailored fitted
and a part of the decorative
scheme for yearround use and
they can be zipped off laundered
and put back on the chair
looklnR like new said Miss En
nls Follis district instructicss of
the Singer Sewing Machine Company
of Dallas to a group of
home demonstration club women
meeting Monday afternoon in the
office of the home demonstration
agent Miss Ruby Wood for a
demonstration on slip covers
Miss Follies gave instructions
for taking measurements for
material and discussed the various
types of material suitable for
slip covers She then by means
of using muslin demonstrated how
to pin the material and make a
pattern of the muslin before cutting
into slip cover material
Stressing the importance of making
a pattern for each particular
chair as chairs do vary in measurements
even when they arc
supposed to be identical It is
well to have two sets of slipcovers
one for spring and summer
and one set for fall and
winter
Representatives from each of
the home demonstration clubs in
the county attended the demonstration
and will give it to their
respective clubs at the second
meeting in Feb
Clubs represented were Flynt
