"NEVADA SMITH"
Based on the character in "THE CAR-
PETBAGGERS" created by Harold Rob-
bins, the film stars Steve McQueen as a
half-breed in the title role. Young Mc-
Queen sees his father and Indian mother
tortured then killed and his home burned
by three gunslingers (Karl Maiden, Arthur
Kennedy and Martin Landau). Vowing ven-
geance, he sets out with his horse, rifle,
and only eight dollars to track down the
killers. Gunsmith Brian Keith befriends
McQueen and teaches him how to predict
the actions of professional killers. Mc-
Queen finally meets up with Landau and
kills him in a knife duel. Later, he guns
down Kennedy after revealing his iden-
tity. McQueen, now a notorious outlaw,
tracks down Maiden. The two mortal
enemies face each other in a blazing
showdown.
An epic-western, "NEVADA SMITH"
will be shown Thursday, August 11, at
your post theater.

GIRLS ON THE BEACH" is about

promising sojourn of frolicking fun and
groovey entertainment (the local beach
club features THE CRICKETS, THE
BEACH BOYS and LESLEY GORE), sud-
denly becomes bleak as the girls find
they are in a real financial mess. The
girls get the boys to help straighten out
a sorority house mother's mistake and the

hits, hip music and groovey guys and gals
in a wild wingding of a beach blast.
