stint as men's basketball
coach that saw
ACU fall into the
Lone Star Conference

there a second year.
Martin was 25-53 in
three years since returning
to coach the Mike Martin
Wildcats. He had won three LSC championships
with the team in the midl980s. Martin said he was
resigning to make room for someone else to rebuild
the program.
Kent State University assistant coach Klint
Pleasant, who helped lead that school to the Elite
Eight in last year's NCAA Tournament, was named
as Martin's replacement. Pleasant is a former ACU
football player and also served as an assistant coach
at the University of Tennessee at Martin and Wayne
State University (Detroit).
